Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has urged residents intending to travel home for Eid 2026 to report their departure plans to their local community leaders (RT and RW). He believes this is essential to prevent security disturbances in residential areas whose residents will be away.

Several departure points have been arranged to facilitate residents returning to their hometowns. “The Jakarta provincial government has already collaborated with the central government, and of course with the Metro Jaya Police and Jaya Military Command, to provide the best service for anyone who will travel home from Jakarta,” Pramono said in North Jakarta on Sunday (15 March).

He identified several departure locations, including the Monas area, Pulo Gebang Terminal, and several other terminals and stations prepared for long-distance travel.

Pramono reminded residents to maintain neighbourhood security before leaving their homes. One method is to report to local community leaders. “We are only urging, and we ask once more, all residents who will travel home please report to the RT and RW. So that if anything happens, there are people watching and responsible,” he said.

He added that this step is also important to anticipate weather conditions, which are forecast to be potentially rainy during the Eid holiday period, ensuring neighbourhoods remain monitored while residents are away.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has provided weather forecast information for the early period of the 2026 Eid travel season, with generally heavy rainfall expected.

Deputy Minister of Environment and deputy head of the Environmental Control Agency (KLH/BPLH), Diaz Hendropriyono, highlighted the potential surge in the number of travellers during the 2026 Eid season.
