JAKARTA – Sri Haryati (42), a participant in the free homecoming programme organised by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, recounted her experience while attempting to secure a ticket for the scheme.

The resident of Palmerah, West Jakarta, disclosed that she had employed tactical measures to successfully complete the registration process.

“I had to use four mobile phones simultaneously just to get a free homecoming ticket from DKI,” said Sri whilst speaking with Kompas.com during the launch of the 2026 DKI Provincial Government Free Lebaran Transport Homecoming Programme at the National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.

She even sought assistance from family members to attempt accessing the registration website from different devices.

“At that time, I used four mobile phones. One was mine, the others I borrowed from my nephew and relatives. It was extremely difficult to get through with just one,” said Sri.

According to her, the registration page became difficult to access due to the large number of residents attempting to register simultaneously. She experienced multiple login failures and had to restart the process several times.

“It kept getting disconnected, login failed, and it went round and round,” she explained.

Despite encountering obstacles, Sri’s efforts ultimately proved successful. One of the devices she used managed to log in and complete the registration process.

“The important thing is that one got through. Thank goodness it worked, I filled in the data quickly,” she said.

According to her, the free homecoming programme from the DKI Provincial Government was highly beneficial, particularly given economic pressures facing residents ahead of Lebaran.

“It helps quite a bit, so I can save on transportation costs. The money can be used for other needs back in the village,” she said.

A similar experience was shared by Erwono (49), a native of Madiun, East Java, whilst attempting to secure a free homecoming ticket from the DKI Provincial Government.
