Jakarta reports drainage repairs in Lenteng Agung and Idul Adha return traffic
A series of events unfolded in Jakarta on Sunday (31 May), ranging from repairs to a collapsed drainage channel in Lenteng Agung to return traffic after the Idul Adha holiday. Social welfare expert Teguh Purwanto stated that the Sekolah Rakyat programme could serve as a strategic foundation for human resource development towards the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision. According to Purwanto, the initiative targeting children from poor and extremely poor families not only expands educational access but also acts as a tool for national SDM quality equalisation. South Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jaksel) allocated approximately Rp380 million for repairing the collapsed drainage channel in the Lenteng Agung area of Jagakarsa. ‘This is around Rp380 million for the entire project to be completed within two weeks,’ said Santo, Head of the South Jakarta Water Resources Subdepartment, during a confirmation in Jakarta on Sunday. Kampung Rambutan Bus Terminal in East Jakarta was crowded with passengers on Sunday afternoon during the extended Idul Adha holiday weekend. Terminal Chief Revi Zulkarnain noted that while return traffic was heavy, departures from Jakarta were equally busy. West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah distributed aid to fire victims on Sunday evening in Jalan Kendang Barat Gang IV, RW 05 and RW 04 of Krendang Village, Tambora District. During her visit to the evacuation site, she symbolically handed out school supplies, baby essentials, and other assistance to affected children and residents. Human Initiative’s Sebar Qurban 2026 programme concluded successfully, reaching 204,184 beneficiaries across 547 villages, 129 regencies/cities, and seven countries. The achievement was announced at the programme’s closing ceremony on Saturday (30 May), which also served as an opportunity to thank donors, partners, livestock farmers, volunteers, communities, and other stakeholders involved.
