Jakarta Regional-Owned Enterprises Urged to Strengthen Financing and Investment Amid Global Pressures
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is encouraging the strengthening of the role of regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) as pillars of the regional economy amid rising global pressures and climate change risks. This initiative was discussed at the BUMD Leaders Forum organised by the BUMD Development Agency (BP BUMD) of DKI Jakarta Province together with Bank Jakarta on Friday (17/4/2026). DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that this forum serves as a space to align perceptions amid uncertain global dynamics. He also reminded of the importance of vigilance against external factors, including geopolitical situations and the threat of El Niño expected to occur from April to September 2026. “However, I also conveyed that currently the geopolitical situation is struggling and soon there will be El Niño expected from April to September this year, so I asked them to prepare for that,” he said. According to Pramono, strong consolidation as well as building a transparent and professional corporate culture is key to enabling BUMD to withstand various pressures. In addition to aligning visions, the forum also discussed several strategic issues related to strengthening BUMD performance and financing. Head of BP BUMD of DKI Jakarta Province Syaefuloh Hidayat stated that the main focus is directed towards improving competitiveness, company health, and financing capacity for regional development. He explained that this forum is a continuation of the meeting held in December 2025. In this year’s meeting, there are three main topics discussed. The second topic relates to optimising investment performance and business development through synergy in guaranteeing strategic projects. In that discussion, one point that emerged was the guarantee of BUMD projects by PT Jamkrida Jakarta as well as the optimisation of Bank Jakarta credit guarantees through that institution. Meanwhile, the third topic highlights the enhancement of productivity of strategic assets as a driver of investment and a source of new revenue. As part of the series of activities, a credit agreement was also signed between PAM Jaya and Bank Jakarta. Through the collaboration commitment outlined in the Collaboration Charter, BUMD are expected to strengthen their role in supporting Jakarta’s economic growth.
