The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of DKI Jakarta reported that Jakarta experienced monthly inflation of 0.41 percent in June 2026, with petrol and airfares as the main contributing commodities. “The main contributor to monthly inflation in June 2026 was the transport group, contributing 0.34 percent to inflation, and the main commodities contributing to inflation in this group were petrol and air transport,” said Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, Kadarmanto, in Jakarta on Wednesday. Petrol, which falls under the transport group, contributed 0.29 percent to Jakarta’s monthly inflation in June. “This petrol includes Pertamax. The government recently raised the price of Pertamax. That is what caused petrol inflation to be quite dominant, contributing 0.29 percent,” he said. The inflation rate for the transport group was recorded at 2.54 percent, contributing 0.34 percent to Jakarta’s inflation. Meanwhile, airfare commodities, also part of the transport group, contributed 0.05 percent to inflation. According to him, this commodity has frequently experienced increases over the past four years. The highest increases were recorded in months coinciding with major religious holidays and especially during holiday periods. Besides petrol and airfares, mobile phones, carrots, and red chillies were also main contributors to monthly inflation in June, with respective contributions of 0.02 percent, 0.01 percent, and 0.01 percent. Kadarmanto added that Jakarta’s monthly inflation figure for June 2026 was not much different from the previous month’s 0.12 percent, which was also contributed by the transport group.
