Jakarta Ranks 17th for Best Public Transport, Pramono: This is Teamwork, No Need to Feel Like a Hero
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, stated that Jakarta is now ranked 17th in the world for cities with the best public transport infrastructure. He said that this achievement is the result of the collective effort of many parties. “Currently, Jakarta is ranked 17th in the world for the best public transport infrastructure. In ASEAN, we are only behind Singapore; we are better than Bangkok, Manila, Hanoi, and so on. But this is not due to the work of the governor or vice governor; this is teamwork,” said Pramono while giving directions at the Jakarta Provincial Education Office, Thursday (February 26, 2026). For this reason, Pramono asked that no party feel that they are the most deserving of credit for this achievement. “I believe that there is no need for one person to feel like a hero and that they are the ones doing everything,” said Pramono. According to him, the development and improvement of the transportation system in Jakarta are carried out through cross-sectoral collaboration with clear orchestration. He believes that a collaborative approach is the key to the city’s transformation. “I am a person who believes that we can achieve a lot because of what? Working together. The orchestration is there, and that is what I believe will make Jakarta change,” he said. In the first 10 months of his leadership, Pramono said that Jakarta’s ranking as a global city has also improved. “In the past 10 months of my leadership, Jakarta, which used to be ranked 74th, is now, thank God, 71st; it has moved up a level,” said Pramono.
