Jakarta Public Transport Users Rise Nearly 10% to 230.8 Million
The number of public transport users in Jakarta continues to rise. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government recorded that Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta served 230.8 million passengers during the second quarter of this year. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that this figure represents an increase of approximately 9.7% compared to the same period last year. He noted that the rise demonstrates growing public interest in public transport. ‘In this opportunity, we also want to convey that the mobility of public transport usage has experienced a very, very, very significant increase,’ Pramono said during the Jakarta Budget Talks event at City Hall on Wednesday (22/7/2026). Pramono mentioned that the number of Transjakarta, MRT, and LRT users reached 230.8 million passengers up to June 2026. ‘The public using TJ, MRT, LRT reached 230.8 million passengers in this second quarter, so up to June, or an increase of around 9.7%,’ he said. He assessed that the increase is inseparable from the improving intermodal connectivity in Jakarta. According to Pramono, the level of public transport connectivity has now reached around 93%. He added that the connectivity rate was only around 21% to 22% when he and Deputy Governor Doel first took office. Pramono is also optimistic that the number of public transport users will continue to grow as the service network expands. He hopes the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B route from Velodrome to Manggarai can be inaugurated this August. He stated that once fully operational, the LRT Jakarta route is targeted to serve around 80,000 passengers per day, with initial daily ridership expected to be between 50,000 and 60,000.
