Jakarta Public Order Agency Investigates Officer for Alleged Extortion at Learning Centre

An individual claiming to be a member of the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) named Givson Samosir has been accused of extortion at a community learning centre in the Cilincing area of North Jakarta. The Jakarta Satpol PP is currently investigating the case.

“It is true that the perpetrator, Givson Samosir, visited on Monday, 6 July 2026, at around 2.30 p.m. Western Indonesia Time. He questioned the learning activity permits, among other licences, and ultimately demanded Rp 300,000, though only Rp 150,000 was given. The perpetrator claimed to be a member of the North Jakarta Satpol PP,” explained the Head of the Jakarta Public Order Agency, Satriadi Gunawan, in a statement on Sunday, 12 July 2026.

The Jakarta Satpol PP subsequently examined the individual. The perpetrator now faces severe disciplinary punishment. “The perpetrator was examined on Thursday, 9 July, by the Jakarta Provincial Satpol PP over the alleged extortion reported by residents and for employee disciplinary violations, which carry the threat of severe disciplinary sanctions,” he said.

Furthermore, Arifin stated that the case is still under investigation. The perpetrator has not yet been sanctioned as the examination process is ongoing. “We are reviewing the progress of the examination by the Civil Service Investigator (PPNS) Team; the conclusion will be adapted to the applicable regulations,” he said.

Arifin clarified that the perpetrator is not a member of the North Jakarta Satpol PP. He stated that the individual is a staff member of the East Jakarta Satpol PP. “We firmly state that the extortion perpetrator, Givson Samosir, is an Expert Operational Staff member of the Civil Service Investigator and Operations Unit of the East Jakarta Administrative City Public Order Agency, not a member of the North Jakarta Satpol PP,” he asserted.

The Jakarta Satpol PP expressed regret over the extortion incident. The public is urged to immediately contact the call centre at 112 if they encounter any Satpol PP officers engaging in extortion.
