The Jakarta Provincial Government aims to renovate and rebuild eight schools that have sustained damage by 2026.

“There are eight schools scheduled for renovation this year,” stated the Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Rano Karno, during the groundbreaking ceremony for SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 and 11 in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Rano noted that the construction of several schools had previously been affected by budget efficiency policies, necessitating that the Provincial Government prioritise specific institutions.

“In truth, these are part of a group of schools that definitely require rehabilitation, but due to efficiency measures, reductions were necessary,” he said.

He explained that the construction of SDN Kebaylaran Lama Selatan 09 and 11 has been re-prioritised because the condition of the schools was deemed to require urgent attention.

Rano added that the Jakarta Provincial Government remains committed to ensuring school rehabilitation is carried out based on the level of need, despite budget constraints resulting from efficiency drives.

“This school is actually the eighth out of the seven originally agreed upon. It was only the eighth that was omitted. Due to efficiency, we naturally have to make choices,” he remarked.

The Jakarta Provincial Government has added four schools to the priority list for 2026 to be constructed immediately due to their concerning conditions.

These four projects include SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 with a budget of Rp48.1 billion, SMAN 102 Jakarta at Rp67.5 billion, SDN Cempaka Putih Barat 03 valued at Rp48.4 billion, and SDN Papanggo 01 and TKN Papanggo 01 with a total budget of Rp74.1 billion.

The total budget for these four projects amounts to approximately Rp249 billion. The funding for these four schools will be sourced from a combination of Building Floor Area Ratio (KLB) funds and the Revised Regional Budget (APBD Perubahan).
