Jakarta Provincial Government to Inaugurate Velodrome-Manggarai LRT in August 2026

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will soon commence passenger operations on LRT Jakarta Phase 1B, the Velodrome-Manggarai route, in August 2026.

“Hopefully, in August this year, transport connectivity in Jakarta will improve significantly. The date will be announced later — the LRT, run by the DKI Jakarta Government, will run from Kelapa Gading or Pegangsaan Dua all the way to Manggarai,” said DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung at the MRT Bundaran HI Station in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He said the Kelapa Gading (Pegangsaan Dua)-Manggarai line is 12.2 kilometres long with 11 stations and a travel time of 28 minutes.

The section to be officially opened is the new Velodrome-Manggarai route, which is 6.4 km long and includes five stations.

Pramono also mentioned the construction of the LRT from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas, which will be equipped with a pedestrian deck crossing.

“And the Dukuh Atas pedestrian deck has now begun. Hopefully, this will make connectivity in Jakarta far better,” said Pramono.

Once operating normally, the Pegangsaan Dua-Manggarai LRT is projected to serve up to 80,000 passengers each day.

Construction of the Kelapa Gading (Pegangsaan Dua)-Manggarai line cost around Rp12.5 trillion. The entire strategic project was carried out entirely by domestic workers.

The existing LRT Jakarta route runs from Kelapa Gading (Pegangsaan Dua), through Boulevard Utara, Boulevard Selatan, Pulomas and Equestrian, to Velodrome.

Then, in August 2026, five more LRT Jakarta stations will be added: Rawamangun, Pramuka BPKP, Pasar Pramuka, Matraman and Manggarai.

In addition, the Velodrome-Manggarai LRT route is planned to be integrated with Transjakarta, microtrans services and the KRL commuter rail.
