Jakarta Provincial Government to Hold Car Free Night on Takbiran Evening
The Jakarta Provincial Government will hold a motor vehicle-free night or car free night on the takbiran evening of Idul Fitri or Lebaran. The car free night is planned to commence at 22:00 WIB.
“I have already approved for that evening to begin from 10 p.m., we will hold an event called car free night,” said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
Pramono stated that public transport will continue to operate. He expressed hope that the public can carry out activities and move between locations using public transport.
“Private vehicles are not permitted to enter, but Transjakarta will continue to operate so that people can conduct activities,” he said.
In addition to the car free night, the Jakarta Provincial Government is also preparing several activities to welcome Idul Fitri. These include a Hijab Fashion Show in the Tanah Abang area on 12 March and a bedug festival and torch procession on 19 March.
“For those returning to Jakarta for the holiday, we are also holding several activities. On 12 March there will be a Hijab Fashion Show in Tanah Abang. Then on 19 March there will be a Bedug Festival in the evening and also a torch procession,” he said.
Pramono has not yet detailed the exact location for the upcoming car free night. The specific date of the car free night will be adjusted according to the date of 1 Syawal 1447 H, which will be determined by the government through an isbat session.
