Jakarta Provincial Government to Expand Lactation Room Provision
The Jakarta Provincial Government will increase the provision of lactation rooms in various public spaces to realise Jakarta as a child-friendly global city. Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung Wibowo acknowledged that lactation rooms remain one of the issues most frequently complained about by the public. “I have received a lot of input regarding lactation rooms in offices, especially in public facilities owned by Jakarta. They are indeed not yet optimal,” Pramono said at City Hall, Jakarta, Monday. Nevertheless, he continues to push for more lactation rooms to be made available in public spaces and offices. He cited the Nyi Ageng Serang Library as an example, which has now been equipped with a lactation room. It is hoped that mothers and children visiting public spaces will feel safer and more comfortable with the availability of lactation room facilities. “Because that is what is needed as a global city. Of course, we are also preparing for that. So, for lactation rooms, this will become a movement for anyone wanting to open a public space, then a lactation room must also be prepared, because Jakarta must be a province that is friendly and comfortable for children,” Pramono stated.
