Jakarta Provincial Government to cover funeral costs for man who died after being crushed by a tree in South Jakarta
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, stated that the government will cover the funeral costs for a man who died after being crushed by a tree on Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Sunday (8 March 2026). “For the deceased, I will request that the funeral costs be fully borne by the Jakarta Provincial Government,” Pramono told reporters at Bundaran HI, Central Jakarta, on Sunday. The incident was reported by Mohammad Yohan, Head of the BPBD DKI Jakarta’s Data and Information Center, to have occurred around 02:31 WIB, during heavy rain accompanied by strong winds. The victim died and his body was evacuated to RS Polri Kramat Jati for further handling. “The victim is one person who died and was referred to RS Polri,” Yohan added. Additionally, heavy rain also caused flooding at several points in Jakarta into Sunday morning. Based on monitoring up to 04:00 WIB, 39 RT and 13 road sections were flooded. “The cause is the heavy rain that swept across the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings on Saturday (7/3/2026) to Sunday,” he said in a written statement.
