Jakarta Provincial Government to Connect Four Hotels in HI Roundabout to MRT
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Provincial Government will soon connect four hotels in the HI Roundabout area, namely Grand Hyatt, Pullman, Mandarin Oriental, and Hotel Kempinski, to the MRT station via an underground tunnel.
“Those who have been to Singapore might imagine when Jakarta will have an underground road that can connect different areas? We will start soon. In fact, construction has already begun, connecting Grand Hyatt, Pullman, Mandarin Oriental, and Hotel Kempinski underground, directly leading to the MRT,” said Pramono in South Jakarta, Thursday (February 26).
Thus, he added, people will no longer need to walk on the surface or cross the HI Roundabout.
This is expected to make the HI Roundabout area more organised.
However, Pramono has not yet provided details on the construction costs and the inauguration or opening date of the access road.
However, he assured that the construction is being carried out because, based on Law Number 2 of 2024, Jakarta is no longer just a capital city but has become a global city.
“Even though Jakarta is still the capital city today, as a global city, under my leadership, Jakarta used to be ranked 74th, but now, thank God, it is 71st, it has moved up a level,” said Pramono.
He is optimistic that Jakarta can continue to improve its ranking in the future.
Moreover, according to him, public transportation in Jakarta is now comparable to Manila, Hanoi, and other cities.
He emphasised that this can be achieved thanks to good teamwork, especially within the Jakarta City Hall.
“The orchestration is there, and that is what I believe will make Jakarta change,” said Pramono.
