Jakarta Provincial Government to Build Cattle Yard in Ciangir, Capacity for 1,000 Cattle
The DKI Jakarta provincial government through Dharma Jaya Public Enterprise (Perumda Dharma Jaya) plans to build a new cattle yard in the Ciangir area, Tangerang Regency. The facility is targeted to accommodate up to 1,000 cattle.
Raditya Endra Budiman, Chief Executive Officer of Dharma Jaya, said the construction of the yard would be a solution to the land constraints currently faced by the regional state-owned company. In 2026, they target live cattle up to 10,000 head, but the quota allocated by the Ministry of Agriculture is only 7,500 head.
“From the 7,500, with Dharma Jaya’s current condition, we can only bring in around 3,119 head. Not because we’re afraid of poor demand, but due to space limitations,” he said in a statement on Friday, 6 March 2026.
Raditya explained that Dharma Jaya actually has land of 12 hectares in Serang, Banten, capable of housing up to 5,000 cattle. However, the land use designation has changed, so it can no longer be used as a cattle yard.
“The land allocation has changed: what was previously allowed as a yard is now only allowed for agro-tourism. So the existing yard cannot be expanded or added,” he said.
As an alternative, they will make use of land owned by the DKI Provincial Government in the Ciangir area, Banten. The total area of the site is around 100 hectares, with about 20 hectares already used by the correctional service.
Of the remaining around 70 hectares, Dharma Jaya plans to utilise about 40 hectares for the development of the livestock precinct. “Initially we will build the yard and a feed processing warehouse. In the future, it is planned to become an integrated area,” he said.
Raditya said the area will also be equipped with a Slaughterhouse (RPH) and cold storage facilities. In fact, the RPH currently located in Cakung could potentially be moved to Ciangir.
“Jakarta is already too crowded. If it’s in Ciangir it is farther from residential areas, so it would be more suitable for operations,” he added.
Raditya said the plan to build the yard in Ciangir has been reported and received support from Governor Pramono Anung and Vice Governor Rano Karno. With the new facility, Dharma Jaya hopes to increase cattle intake capacity to up to 1,000 head in a single procurement period.
“If we can bring in 1,000 head directly, the process will be faster and we can request additional so that the target of 10,000 head can be achieved,” he added.
