The Food Security, Maritime Affairs, and Agriculture Agency (KPKP) of the Jakarta Provincial Government has revealed the cause of rising beef prices during Ramadan. One of the main factors is the increase in public demand.

The Head of the Jakarta KPKP Agency, Hasudungan Sidabalok, said that beef demand has increased by 3.57% during Ramadan. This increase in consumption has a direct impact on prices in the market.

“There has been a 3.57% increase in beef demand during Ramadan,” said Hasudungan in a statement on Wednesday (25/2/2026).

In addition to domestic demand factors, the price increase is also influenced by global conditions. Hasudungan explained that beef prices in producing countries have increased due to the influence of global currency exchange rates.

“There has been an increase in beef prices in producing countries due to the influence of global currency exchange rates,” he said.

The Jakarta Provincial Government continues to monitor the development of strategic food prices, including beef, during Ramadan. This step is taken to ensure the availability of supply and maintain price stability at the consumer level.

The Jakarta Provincial Government is also coordinating with various parties to anticipate higher price spikes, especially during the period of increased public needs during Ramadan.

As seen on the official website pangan.jakarta.co.id, the highest price of beef in Senen Market reaches IDR 150,000 and the lowest is IDR 130,000.
