Jakarta Provincial Government Prepares Weather Modification for 'Artificial Rain' Today

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has revealed that the capital region is expected to be hit by light rain on Friday (21/8/2026). To that end, the Jakarta Provincial Government will prepare a weather modification operation (OMC) today.

Pramono admitted that he has instructed his staff to prepare the OMC today. According to him, the presence of early cloud formations that could potentially produce drizzle today must be utilised so that rain can occur in Jakarta.

“In carrying out the OMC, for example tomorrow Friday (today), there will be clouds again. I have ordered for Friday because there are clouds, so preparations should be made immediately for a flight tomorrow,” he said on Thursday (20/8/2026).

He explained that the presence of clouds will greatly determine the success of the OMC in creating rain. This is because it is impossible for OMC to be carried out to produce rain when there are no clouds.

Pramono revealed that the OMC being carried out cannot necessarily guarantee that rain will occur. This is because rain is ultimately the will of the Almighty Creator.
