The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI) is currently preparing the construction of new flyovers at several strategic points to ease congestion in the capital. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung confirmed that the Highways Agency (Dinas Bina Marga) has mapped priority locations, which will be officially decided in an upcoming formal meeting.

Pramono explained that the Head of the Jakarta Highways Agency, Heru Suwondo, has submitted an initial report regarding the proposed infrastructure development. “Regarding flyovers that have not yet been built, there are indeed priorities. I have requested that these be officially reported in the meeting, and we will promptly decide which ones are essential,” Pramono stated in West Jakarta on Thursday (2/7).

Several locations included in the priority development list include the Pejompongan, Universitas Pancasila, and Bintaro areas. These points were selected based on high traffic density and the urgent need for grade-separated road engineering.

Despite several new plans, Pramono emphasised that the Latumeten Flyover project in West Jakarta is currently the top priority. This area is known as one of the worst congestion points, connecting the Grogol, Pluit, and Slipi areas.

Based on construction progress data, the Latumeten Flyover has currently reached 55.2 per cent completion. The project, which involves a budget of Rp259 billion, is targeted for full completion by 15 December 2026.

Pramono noted that this infrastructure is highly anticipated by the public due to the chronic congestion conditions existing prior to construction. He hopes the completion of this project will significantly impact the smoothness of traffic flow in West Jakarta and its surrounding areas.
