Jakarta Provincial Government Mandates Work from Home Every Friday, with These Exceptions

The Jakarta Provincial Government has begun implementing a work from home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN). The policy will be applied every Friday of the week. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the choice of day for the WFH scheme is adjusted to the decision from the central government. Thus, there will be two days each week with special arrangements for ASN in the Jakarta Provincial Government environment, namely Wednesday and Friday. “Therefore, there will be two days with special arrangements: every Wednesday remains for public transportation to be operated, while on Fridays we will implement work from home,” he said at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (1/4/2026). However, the Jakarta Provincial Government does not apply the WFH work scheme to all ASN. There are exceptions for ASN whose duties directly intersect with the public, who will work as usual. Pramono mentioned that ASN who will continue to work as usual are those classified as mid-level and entry-level officials. Not only that, some ASN who interact with the public, such as the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Transportation Agency (Dishub), health workers (nakes), and firefighters (damkar), will continue to work as usual. “In accordance with the Circular from the Minister of Home Affairs and also the ministerial decision related to work from home, there are several exceptions that are not included in the work from home, for example, mid-level and entry-level officials, and also matters related to public services such as Satpol PP, Transportation Agency, Health, Traffic and Transportation Police, Fire Department, they will continue to carry out their duties as usual,” he said. He added that his side will also regulate the maximum limit of ASN implementing WFH every Friday. The maximum number of ASN in the Jakarta Provincial Government environment who WFH every Friday is 50 percent. “Because there is no range from the central government, we will set the range between 25 percent to 50 percent maximum,” he said.
