Jakarta Provincial Government Investigates Alleged ASN Swapping Official Plates for Personal Vehicle
A viral video on social media has recorded allegations of the misuse of an official vehicle by an employee of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government for purposes outside of official duties. In the video, a police officer stops a car with a personal licence plate B 1732 PQG in the Puncak area of Bogor. The officer questions the vehicle’s original plate. After checking the documents, the driver eventually replaces the number plate with the official government one. The Head of the Regional Asset Management Agency (BPAD) of DKI Jakarta Province, Faisal Syafruddin, stated that they are following up on the alleged violation. “Currently, we have conducted an internal investigation and are coordinating with the Inspectorate for further examination in accordance with applicable provisions,” Faisal said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4). He added that BPAD has also coordinated with the Inspectorate for further examination. “We emphasise that the use of official vehicles must comply with the provisions and their intended purpose. The use of official vehicles for non-official purposes is not permitted,” Faisal said. Faisal stated that the incident serves as material for evaluation to strengthen supervision and improve employee discipline in the use of regional assets. “This incident is an evaluation for us to strengthen supervision and ensure that all employees are increasingly disciplined and responsible in using official vehicles as well as other regional assets,” he said. Faisal conveyed that attention and input from the public are an important part of strengthening transparent and accountable government governance.
