Jakarta Provincial Government Encourages SMEs to Penetrate Global Markets via CIEIE 2026
The Jakarta Provincial Government is encouraging its fostered micro, small, and medium enterprises (SMEs) to expand their market access to the global level. One such effort is being carried out through participation in the China (Indonesia) International E-Commerce Industry Expo (CIEIE) Indonesia 2026.
Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Rano Karno, said CIEIE 2026 can serve as a space for Jakarta SMEs to expand their business networks while meeting potential partners from international markets. He conveyed this while welcoming the organisation of CIEIE Indonesia 2026 in Taman Sari, West Jakarta, on Monday (24/8).
CIEIE 2026 will take place on 3-5 September 2026 in Hall B-C, JIExpo Kemayoran. The exhibition brings together buyers, importers, distributors, retailers, and marketplace sellers with suppliers, factories, and brand owners from various categories.
Business actors attending can obtain information regarding products, prices, minimum order quantities (MOQ), samples, and cooperation opportunities. The meeting is expected to open broader business access for SMEs.
"This forum strengthens economic and trade relations between Indonesia and China. This means it opens greater opportunities for Jakarta SMEs to enter international markets, particularly China," Rano said in a written statement on Tuesday (25/8).
As a concrete step, the Jakarta Provincial Government is ready to send 23 curated SMEs to the China International SME Fair (CISMEF) 2026 in Guangzhou, China. The event will take place on 3-6 September 2026.
The participation of these business actors is packaged through the Choose Jakarta programme. This programme is one of the Jakarta Provincial Government’s strategies for opening export market access for fostered SMEs.
Previously, three Jakarta fostered SMEs participated in the China Food Trade Fair in March 2026. Promotion efforts in international markets also include facilitating business meetings with global buyers, importers, distributors, and retailers.
Rano said strengthening the export competitiveness of SMEs is an important part of Jakarta’s economic transformation. The processing industry sector was recorded as contributing around 11.13 percent to Jakarta’s Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in 2025.
Going forward, the direction of Jakarta’s industrial development is focused on developing high-value-added and high-technology industries. This development also applies environmentally friendly principles in its processes.
In addition, industrial development is also integrated with the modern services sector and the halal ecosystem. This integration is expected to strengthen Jakarta’s position as a competitive trade hub.
"The hope is that the organisation of CIEIE will not stop at being just an exhibition, but will produce concrete cooperation, new investment, broader market access, and business opportunities for Jakarta SMEs," Rano concluded.
