Jakarta Provincial Government Denies CCTV Was Off During Demonstration
The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta, through its Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Agency (Diskominfotik), has denied reports that its surveillance camera (CCTV) infrastructure in the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI) area was inactive during a demonstration on Friday (12/6). Head of the DKI Jakarta Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Agency, Marulina Dewi, asserted that the CCTV was in prime condition and functioning optimally, continuing to operate normally to support security, order, and public safety at this vital point in the capital. “We ensure that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s CCTV operations continue to run normally and are actively used to support security, order, public safety, and area monitoring, including coordination with the police,” Marulina Dewi said in an official statement in Jakarta on Saturday (13/6). This statement was issued in response to media reports stating that several CCTV cameras in the Bundaran HI area could not be accessed by the public on Friday (12/6). Marulina explained that the issue did not occur within the government’s internal system, but rather on a digital platform belonging to a third party. She stressed that the channels experiencing disruption are not part of the official system managed by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. “Regarding access issues on certain CCTV feeds circulating on specific platforms or sites, we assert that these platforms are not official channels nor part of the CCTV system managed by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government,” she said. Marulina added that data availability, streaming flow, and technical disruptions on third-party sites are entirely beyond the control and management of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. According to her, the problems on external platforms in no way reflect the functional condition of the devices in the field. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s CCTV is confirmed to have continued recording and monitoring the situation in the Bundaran HI area in real-time without technical issues. This measure is taken to ensure that area surveillance is maintained, especially in high-mobility locations like Bundaran HI, in order to provide a sense of security for Jakarta residents and support the performance of law enforcement in area monitoring.
