Jakarta Provincial Government Crackdown on Illegal Parking and Attendants Across 15 Locations

The Jakarta Provincial Government has initiated a crackdown on illegal parking and unauthorised parking attendants at 15 locations across Jakarta to ensure public order, security, and convenience.

“The enforcement is being carried out through ‘Operation Cabut Pentil’ (removing parking studs), towing, and the regulation of illegal parking attendants,” stated Budi Awaluddin, Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub), while leading a joint assembly with the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), the Jakarta Social Services, the TNI, and the Polri during the ‘Illegal Parking Enforcement Operation’ on Monday.

The enforcement locations include West Jakarta, specifically Cengkareng, Kalideres, and Kembangan; Central Jakarta, including Jalan Kebon Sirih, Jalan Wahid Hasyim, and the Thamrin City area; and South Jakarta, covering Jalan Kasablanka, Jalan Rasuna Said, and Jalan Dr. Satrio. North Jakarta locations include Kelapa Gading, Pademangan, and Pluit, while East Jakarta sees enforcement in Jatinegara Timur, Jatinegar Barat, and Jatinegara Station.

Budi noted that the operation is being conducted by 600 personnel from the Jakarta Transportation Agency, Satpol PP, Social Services, TNI, Polri, the Department of Population and Civil Registration, and the Department of Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy.

The enforcement will take place daily for the first week, followed by a sustained schedule of three times per week in the second week, and twice per week from the third week onwards, with evaluations conducted monthly.

According to the Community Rapid Response (CRM) data, there have been 3,246 public reports regarding illegal parking, making it the second most reported issue after road-related complaints. Budi added that media monitoring in May showed the issue of illegal parking reached 253 news reports, all carrying negative sentiment.
