Jakarta Provincial Government continues to strengthen public information transparency
The Jakarta Communication, Informatics and Statistics Agency is continuing its efforts to strengthen public information transparency, one example being the development of the ‘Jakarta Satu Data Portal’. ‘It is now more informative and easier to use. Users can explore and understand official data from the Jakarta Provincial Government thematically and in a more dynamic way,’ said Syali Gestanon, Head of Public Information at the Jakarta Communication, Informatics and Statistics Agency, during a Public Information Transparency Seminar in Jakarta on Friday. The Jakarta Satu Data Portal provides approximately 4,795 datasets from 53 organisations, consisting of 51 regional apparatus organisations and two other organisations, categorised into 30 strategic topics such as health, education, population, MSMEs, social affairs, and others. Data from this portal is fully integrated and routinely channelled to the National Satu Data Portal managed by the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas). Syali stated that the public has the right to obtain information, which is guaranteed by Law Number 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Transparency. At the regional level, this commitment is reinforced through Jakarta Governor Regulation Number 40 of 2024, which regulates the governance of public information services more operationally, from service mechanisms and documentation management to the role of information and documentation management officers in providing services to the public. ‘Let us encourage the public to become more aware of their right to public information, to be wiser in accessing information, and to be smarter in overseeing the running of the government,’ he said. He added that the Jakarta Provincial Government, through its Information and Documentation Management Officers (PPID), continues to encourage public information services to not only function administratively but also to be easily understood and to have their benefits felt by the community.
