The Jakarta Provincial Government continues to open spaces for artists, cultural practitioners, communities, and the international public to meet and collaborate.

These efforts include revitalising cultural spaces at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) and strengthening the ecosystem of galleries, art communities, festivals, and other cultural activities.

This was conveyed by the Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, when opening the SBY Art Community 2026 Painting Exhibition at the Small Theatre, Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Central Jakarta, on Tuesday evening (18/8).

Pramono said that arts and culture play an important role in shaping Jakarta’s character as a global city that remains rooted in its identity.

The SBY Art Community 2026 Painting Exhibition is one of the collaborative spaces that has been opened.

The exhibition, themed “Art for Peace and a Better Future: Collaboration”, brings together artists, creative communities, and artistic ideas from Indonesia and Germany.

Pramono said that the collaboration between the SBY Art Community and Kornfeld Galerie Berlin, held once again in Jakarta, is an important part of building a city that is open to the exchange of ideas, creativity, and culture.

“From canvases, colours, and brushstrokes, we can capture both a picture and a hope for a better and more peaceful world,” said Pramono.

The exhibition, which runs until 30 August, features works by German artist Christopher Lehmpfuhl as well as Indonesian artists Catur Nugroho, Cia Syamsiar, and several others.

According to Pramono, these works enrich the space for art appreciation while bringing the public together with diverse perspectives on nature, culture, and humanity.

He also expressed his admiration for the artworks of the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), and said he has collected three of SBY’s paintings and hopes to add to his collection.

“May this encounter of art and culture through collaboration further strengthen the friendship between Jakarta and Berlin, expand cultural exchange, and carry works and messages of peace from Jakarta to the world,” he said.
