Jakarta Provincial Government Clears Illegal Parking in Blok M; 13 Parking Attendants Detained
A crackdown on illegal parking was carried out by the Jakarta Provincial Government in the Blok M area, South Jakarta, on Thursday (21 May). The move aims to maintain public order and enhance public comfort in public spaces.
During the operation, authorities arrested 13 illegal parking attendants operating in the Blok M area. After detention, the illegal parkers were transported by a Social Service vehicle for further coaching.
The operation was led directly by the Head of the Transportation Sub-Department of the South Jakarta Administrative City, Bernad Octavianus Pasaribu.
The operation involved a number of joint units, including the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s OPD, DalOps personnel, the South Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department, Parking Unit, South Jakarta Civil Service Police (Satpol PP), the South Jakarta Social Sub-Department, lintas jaya officers, and elements of the Indonesian Military (TNI) and Police (Polri).
The activity ran from 16:00 to 18:00 WIB. Before enforcement, the Parking Unit team conducted surveillance and reconnaissance for a day to map points frequently used for illegal parking.
Bernad said the enforcement was conducted in a coordinated manner as part of efforts to maintain order in public facilities and curb illegal parking practices that disadvantage the public.
‘This enforcement is part of a joint effort to maintain public order and provide comfort for residents. We will continue to monitor and take action regularly at points prone to illegal parking,’ he said.
He added that the approach is not only punitive but also humane, through coaching for violators so that they do not resume such practices.
