The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) is still awaiting an official decision from the central government regarding the planned implementation of work from home (WFH) for one day per week for civil servants (ASN) and private sector workers.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasised that his administration will adhere to the directives and regulations issued by the central government.

“The Jakarta Provincial Government will follow whatever guidance and official regulations are issued by the central government. As for the day, it certainly won’t be Wednesday,” Pramono stated when met at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building in Central Jakarta on Monday (30/3/2026).

Under the policy, ASN and Individual Service Providers (PJLP) are required to use public transportation for commuting to and from work, including during official duties.

“Therefore, once it is decided by the central government, I will set it for a day other than Wednesday. Because Wednesday remains for public transportation,” Pramono added.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the WFH policy for ASN and private sector workers would be set in March 2026.

“It will definitely be set this month,” Airlangga said after a meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Friday (27/3/2026).

However, Airlangga did not disclose the exact implementation date for the policy.

“This month has only a few days left, so there’s still time,” Airlangga briefly remarked.

The government is reportedly examining several measures to save on the budget following the escalation of conflict in the Middle East after the United States (US) and Israel attacked Iran.

Several budget-saving options are planned, including the implementation of WFH for ASN to reduce fuel consumption.

The WFH policy for ASN and private sector workers for one day per week is said to have been approved by all ministers and is awaiting direction from Prabowo.
