Jakarta Prepares to Replace Flat Rp3,500 Transjabodetabek Fare with Distance-Based Pricing
The Jakarta Provincial Government is preparing a decision regarding Transjabodetabek fares, which will no longer be a flat rate of Rp3,500 but will instead be adjusted according to travel distance and service characteristics.
“I previously mentioned that it is impossible for the Blok M to Soekarno-Hatta route to cost only Rp3,500; using Damri or other services, the average cost is already above Rp100,000,” said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung at the Urban Knowledge Hub, South Jakarta, on Monday (8/6), as quoted from Antara.
He emphasised that there will be an adjustment to the Transjabodetabek fares and noted that the official pricing scheme will be announced in the near future. Consequently, Pramono hopes that Transjabodetabek users can understand the planned fare adjustments. He stressed that the plan will take into account both travel distance and the quality of service provided.
Nevertheless, the government ensures that the decided fares will remain affordable for the public. Furthermore, he confirmed that the fare adjustment will also be utilised to support the increase in public transport usage. “Therefore, there will be an adjustment, and the figures will be decided in the near future,” said Pramono.
As previously reported, Transjakarta will operate a new Transjabodetabek route, namely route SH2: Blok M - Soekarno-Hatta, starting 12 March 2026. The Jakarta Provincial Government plans to discuss fares for this route in the future, with a range of approximately Rp10,000 to Rp15,000. However, Pramono will finalise the fare after the route has been operational for three months.
