Jakarta Prepares for 499th Anniversary Peak Celebration at Hotel Indonesia Roundabout

The Jakarta Provincial Government is accelerating preparations for the peak celebrations of the 499th anniversary of Jakarta, which will be held at the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout on Saturday and Sunday, 27-28 June 2026. One day before the event, the main stage, giant LED screens, sound systems, and lighting are almost complete.

Observations at the HI Roundabout on Friday, 26 June 2026, showed workers conducting final tests on multimedia equipment and the entertainment stage. Security personnel have also begun being deployed to anticipate the influx of visitors at the event, which is expected to be attended by thousands of residents from Jakarta and its surrounding areas.

Spokesperson for the Jakarta Provincial Government, Cyril Raoul Hakim, also known as Chico Hakim, stated that the peak celebration carries the theme ‘Towards 5 Centuries of Jakarta’. The event will be centred at the HI Roundabout on Saturday, 27 June, starting from 15:00 WIB and continuing until Sunday, 28 June 2026.

A number of agendas have been prepared to enliven the celebration, including the launch of the ‘5 Centuries of Jakarta’ logo, multimedia performances such as lighting shows, video mapping, and flying LED shows, as well as environmentally themed art installations. The main entertainment stage will also feature various public performances.

This celebration serves as the conclusion to the series of events for Jakarta’s 499th anniversary, which has been ongoing since early June 2026. Previously, the Jakarta Provincial Government held an official ceremony on 22 June at Monas.

“This event serves as the closing of the series of celebrations that have been taking place since the beginning of June,” said Raoul on Friday, 26 June 2026.
