The Jakarta Provincial Government is currently preparing the construction of new flyovers at several points to ease congestion in the capital.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung explained that the Head of the Jakarta Highways Agency, Heru Suwondo, has submitted a report to be discussed in a meeting regarding the construction of new flyovers. “Regarding flyovers that have not yet been built, there are indeed priorities. The Head of the Highways Agency has reported to me, and I have requested that this be officially reported in the meeting; we will then immediately decide which ones are truly necessary,” Pramlar said in West Jakarta on Thursday.

Pramono mentioned several locations included in the priority list for flyover construction, including the Pejompongan area, Pancasila University, and Bintaro.

Nevertheless, Pramono stated that the Latumeten Flyover is the most prioritised project, as it is one of the worst congestion points in Jakarta. Currently, the construction of the Latumeten Flyover in West Jakarta has reached 55.2 per cent and is targeted for completion by 15 December 2026.

The budget allocated for the construction of the flyover is Rp259 billion.

According to Pramono, the Latumeten Flyover is one of the most anticipated infrastructure projects because frequent congestion has occurred in that area prior to the construction of the flyover. Upon receiving the proposal for the Latumeten Flyover, he immediately decided that its construction should be the top priority to alleviate traffic in the Grogol, Pluit, Slipi, and surrounding areas. He hopes that with the existence of the flyover, congestion in the area can be resolved promptly.
