'Jakarta Post' wins photography awards
JAKARTA (JP): The organizer of badminton's Lipton World Grand Prix final judged two photographs from The Jakarta Post as the winning images from the four-day meet in December last year.
IGGP Bayu Ismoyo's photo Nice Try earned him the top honor and Rp 1 million in prize money while Suyoto was awarded a Canon camera for his photo Jumping Smash.
Julian Sihombing from Kompas and Maha Eka Swasta of Antara took second and third places for their photos Melangkah ke Final (Through to the Finals) and Kejar Bola (Chase the Shuttlecock) respectively. Julian received Rp 500,000 while Eka took home Rp 300,000.
The organizer also awarded prize money to the winners of the Best Article and Best Player Profile categories. Those placing first, second and third received Rp 1,000,000, Rp 500,000 and Rp 300,000 respectively.
Dendi Sundayana of Pikiran Rakyat was the winner of Best Article for Untung Ada Sigit/Chandra (Lucky There Is Sigit and Chandra). Second place went to Kompas' Brigitta Isworo for Kerja Keras Mengasah Tunngal Putra (Hard Work for the Men's Singles Players), while Mendung Bergayut di Istora (Cloud Hangs Over Istora), written by Refly Harun of Raket, took out third place.
Ari Ambarwati of Gema Olahraga won Best Player Profile for the article Chandra/Sigit: Kami Pantas Menang (Chandra/Sigiti: We Are Fitting Winners). Jayakarta's Bambang Dwi snatched second place for Awal atau Akhir Legenda Susi Susanti (The Beginning or the End of the Susi Susanti Legend) and Yon Parjiyono of Berita Yudha took out third place for Ambisi Trikus/Minarti (Trikus and Minarti's Ambition).
