Jakarta Police Uncover Distribution of 183 Units of Narcotics in Tangerang Apartment

We, from unit 5 of the sub-directorate 3 of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Narcotics Directorate, have once again apprehended a suspect with the initials W (19) in an apartment in the Tangerang Regency area, Banten,” said the Head of Unit 5, Sub-directorate 3 of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Narcotics Directorate, AKP Edy Lestari in a statement on Saturday (16/5/2026).

The arrest was made on Tuesday (12/5). The investigation began with information from the public regarding alleged narcotics distribution activities in the apartment complex.

“After conducting an investigation, the Unit 5 team moved in and apprehended the suspect in the apartment lobby at around 4:30 PM,” he said.

Edy said that initially, they found several cartridges containing etomidate liquid stored in a paper bag and wrapped in bubble wrap with the word ‘fragile’ written on it. The police then conducted further investigation and searched the apartment unit, which was allegedly used as a storage location for the narcotics.

He added that they found dozens of etomidate cartridges stored in several plastic bags and a black bag. The total evidence seized was 183 cartridges containing etomidate liquid, along with packaging equipment such as paper bags, watch boxes, tape, and writing utensils.

“With the evidence of 183 units of cartridges containing etomidate, from this arrest, we have saved 183 people from the dangers of drugs,” he said.

Furthermore, Edy appealed to the public to stay away from drugs. He said that they are currently conducting further investigations into the suspect, W.

“Currently, the evidence and the suspect have been taken to the office of the Narcotics Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police for further investigation,” he said. (mib/azh)
