The Narcotics Investigation Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, together with district-level narcotics units, has dismantled a large-scale illicit drug network during an operation spanning January to June 2026. Director of Narcotics Investigation, Senior Commissioner Ahmad David, announced at a press conference on Friday that the operation resulted in the seizure of 17.45 tonnes of evidence and the arrest of 5,196 suspects. “This massive disclosure is a tangible manifestation of the police’s commitment to implementing the ‘Jakarta Plus’ programme launched by the Jakarta Police Chief, as well as motivation for us and our ranks to enforce the law against drug traffickers and abusers,” David said. He detailed that from the 5,196 suspects arrested based on 3,890 police reports, officers mapped the roles of each perpetrator: 19 acted as producers, 1,914 as dealers, and 3,263 as users. The suspect profiles consist of 4,739 men, 457 women, 16 children, and 39 foreign nationals from 15 different countries. David added that a portion of the 17.45 tonnes of seized evidence has been destroyed in accordance with regulations. The detailed breakdown of seized evidence includes 13.42 tonnes of dangerous pharmaceuticals, 2.587 tonnes of carisoprodol precursor, 314,000 carisoprodol pills, 355.69 kg of cannabis, 197.50 kg of crystal methamphetamine, 16,956 vape cartridges containing etomidate, 33.78 kg of etomidate powder, 19.78 kg of ecstasy powder, 29,289 ecstasy pills, 16.80 kg of ketamine, 10.66 kg of synthetic tobacco, 5.08 kg of happy water, 5.26 kg of synthetic seed liquid, 2.66 kg of THC liquid, 5,208 happy five pills, 1.08 kg of cocaine, and 306.91 grams of MDMB-INACA liquid.
