Jakarta Police Prepare Traffic Management for German President's Visit

The Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya has prepared traffic management measures to secure the state visit of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Jakarta on Monday (15/6). Dirlantas Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol Komarudin explained in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday that his team would implement situational traffic flow arrangements to ensure the smooth running of the state agenda. “Please understand that some road sections may be busier than usual,” he said. The road sections to be traversed by the state guest’s entourage include Jalan Halim Perdanakusuma, MT Haryono, Gatot Subroto, Asia Afrika, Jenderal Sudirman-Thamrin, Medan Merdeka Barat, Medan Merdeka Utara, Garnisun Dalam, Prof Dr Satrio, and Jalan Perwira. Komarudin explained that based on the schedule received, the German presidential entourage will begin its agenda in the morning and is expected to depart again in the afternoon. “The entourage is scheduled to arrive in the morning at 08.00 WIB, and around 17.00 WIB it will have returned,” he stated. Nevertheless, Komarudin confirmed that road closures would not be in effect all day. The traffic management is only temporary while the German President’s motorcade passes. “Road closures will only be implemented when the ceremonial motorcade passes,” he said. Komarudin urged road users, particularly in the Central Jakarta area and the main crossing routes, to seek alternative routes to avoid potential congestion. “The public is asked to remain orderly and follow the directions of officers in the field for the common good,” he said. German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will conduct a state visit to the Republic of Indonesia on 15 June, bringing a major agenda of strengthening bilateral cooperation, revealed German Ambassador to Indonesia Ralf Beste. “We are committed to being a long-term partner with Indonesia, ready to tackle future challenges together,” Beste said at a press conference at the German Embassy in Jakarta on Friday (12/6). “The main message of this visit is clear: Germany is a strong and reliable partner for Indonesia,” he added. He explained that President Steinmeier’s visit is grounded in Germany’s desire to strengthen partnerships with strong developing nations, such as Indonesia.
