The Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) has announced a free vehicle storage service for Jakarta residents and surrounding areas planning to travel home for Lebaran 2026. Vehicles can be left directly at the nearest police station (Polsek) or district police office (Polres).

The Metropolitan Police Chief, Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, has emphasised that the priority is to provide excellent public service during the Lebaran exodus, with vehicle storage being provided free of charge without any fees.

“The message from the Metropolitan Police Chief is to provide service to the community in that the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, through all district and local police stations, will facilitate residents who wish to store their vehicles when they want to travel home. This can be done at the Polsek, Polres, or Polda, and without any charges,” said Kombes Budi Hermanto, Head of Public Relations at Polda Metro Jaya, to journalists on Monday, 9 March 2026.

In addition, neighbourhood patrols will be intensified to secure the homes of residents who are travelling. Police are urging the public to check everything before departing for the holidays.

“We are also advising residents who plan to take leave during Lebaran to secure their house keys, turn off lights that are still on, and disconnect LPG gas that is still connected,” he said.

Budi stressed that the force is ready to realise the goal of “Safe Exodus, Happy Families.” He also asked the public not to worry about the availability of fuel during the Lebaran celebrations.

“The government, including Pertamina, also guarantees that fuel supplies during the implementation of Lebaran holidays are sufficient, even exceeding demand. So do not worry about fuel availability; stocks at petrol stations will not run out,” he said.

To support the smooth running of security operations, Polda Metro Jaya will conduct Operasi Ketupat Jaya 2026, which will run from 13-25 March. More than 6,800 combined personnel will be deployed for security purposes.

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police will establish 101 service posts, security posts, and monitoring posts. Officers have also prepared security schemes in view of the Lebaran holiday coinciding with Nyepi Day. All activities, including tourist sites in Jakarta, will be secured.
