Jakarta Police Form Integrated Team to Handle Confinement of Printing Workers

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police have formed an integrated team to handle the case of three employees of the ‘Mau Print’ printing business who were allegedly confined in Senen, Central Jakarta. The team will provide psychological support and legal assistance to the victims.

Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that the integrated team was established on the orders of the Jakarta Police Chief and includes personnel from the General Criminal Investigation Directorate, the Medical and Health Division, psychologists, and representatives from the Ministry of Manpower.

‘This integrated team will carry out psychological support, health assistance, and handle the legal proceedings of the case,’ explained Commissioner Budi Hermanto during a press conference at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters on Friday.

He stressed that the police are handling the case professionally and proportionally, ensuring that any unverified information circulating can be clarified through the police. ‘The government and the National Police are present to provide protection to all workers,’ he added.

The police have named seven suspects, including the owner of the printing business identified as MML, who is alleged to be the mastermind behind the confinement. The suspects are charged under Article 482 of the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of nine years in prison.

The case began when the three employees were accused of stealing printing plates worth Rp 250 million. They were subsequently held captive for 21 days, during which their feet were shackled and they were denied food.
