Jakarta Police create new precincts

Three new police precincts will be established in Tangerang municipality, Bekasi municipality and Kepulauan Seribu regency this month in a bid to better serve and protect the public.
"The decision was made in compliance with a National Police decree this week. Since the three areas have been developing rapidly, we think they need their own police stations," city police chief Insp. Gen. Firman Gani announced on Friday.
Currently, Bekasi Police, whose chief is Sr. Comr. Edward Pernong, serve residents of both Bekasi regency and Bekasi municipality. The Bekasi City Police will oversee the municipality itself and will be under the command of chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Joko Hartanto.
The same system will apply to Tangerang Police, whose chief is Sr. Comr. I Ketut Untung Yoga and which oversees Tangerang regency and Tangerang municipality. Tangerang City Police will be separate from the regency police and will have Adj. Sr. Comr. Rusli Hedyana as their chief.
The Kepulauan Seribu Utara Police and Kepulauan Seribu Selatan Police stations, which are currently under the command of the North Jakarta Police, will work under the new Kepulauan Seribu Police department.
The former North Jakarta Police deputy chief, Adj. Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar, will take the post of Kepulauan Seribu Police chief.
The three newly appointed officers have started overseeing their jurisdictions, including construction of the stations, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.
