Jakarta Police Chief: Maintaining Security in Jakarta Cannot Be Done Alone
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Chief of the Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police (Kapolda Metro Jaya), Inspector General Asep Edoli Suheri, has emphasised that maintaining security and order in Jakarta and its surrounding areas cannot be achieved by the Indonesian National Police (Polri) alone.
Asep made these remarks while presiding over the Ceremony for the Presentation of the Nugraha Sakanti Honour at the Presisi Field of the Metro Jaya Regional Police Traffic Directorate, Jakarta, on Monday.
“The synergy between the Police, the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces), local governments, stakeholders, and the community is a vital strength in facing the complex dynamics of the capital,” said Asep.
Furthermore, he expressed deep appreciation and gratitude to the Jakarta Provincial Government, Kodam Jaya, surrounding regional governments, Forkopimda (Regional Leadership Coordination Forum), as well as religious and community leaders for the close collaboration established thus far.
According to the former Deputy Head of Criminal Investigation, the receipt of the Nugraha Sakanti Honour by the Metro Jaya Regional Police, based on Presidential Decree Number 38 TK of 2026, is the sweet fruit of collective service and cross-sectoral cooperation, rather than merely individual work.
He expressed hope that this high honour from the state would serve as a momentum to further strengthen the solidarity between all elements of the nation to maintain public security and order (kamtibmas) in the capital region.
During the occasion, Asep also conveyed six Presidential directives that serve as a moral guide for all members of the National Police: maintaining public trust, being a police force close to the people, enforcing the law fairly, increasing professionalism, strengthening synergy with all elements of the nation, and never ceasing to improve oneself.
“Be a police officer who is beneficial to the community, and never, ever hurt the hearts of the people,” said Asep.
He emphasised the importance of rapid response to public reports, early detection, prevention, effective communication, and collaborative problem-solving.
“Against every form of disturbance to public security and law violations, we must remain firm, professional, and measured in our actions,” he stated.
Furthermore, he urged all personnel to treat the Nugraha Sakanti Honour as a compass for service and new energy to provide the best service to the community, nation, and state, in line with the spirit of the Metro Jaya Regional Police motto, Jaya Dharma Sevaka, which signifies success in every duty of service.
