Jakarta Police Chief: Collaboration is Key to Maintaining Security in the Capital
Jakarta Police Chief Komjen Asep Edi Suheri has stressed that maintaining security and public order in Jakarta and its surrounding areas cannot be accomplished by the police force alone. Speaking during the Nugraha Sakanti award ceremony at the Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Directorate grounds on Monday (6/7), he highlighted the importance of broad collaboration. “Synergy between the National Police, the Indonesian Military, regional governments, stakeholders, and the community is a crucial force in facing the complex dynamics of the capital city,” Asep said. He also expressed deep appreciation to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, the Jaya Military Command, buffer zone administrations, the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, and religious and community leaders for their close cooperation. According to the former Deputy Chief of the Criminal Investigation Agency, the Nugraha Sakanti award, granted via Presidential Decree No. 38 TK of 2026, is the fruit of collective dedication and cross-sectoral partnership, not merely individual effort. He expressed hope that this highest state honour would serve as a momentum to further strengthen solidarity among all elements of the nation to maintain stability in the capital. During the event, Asep also conveyed six presidential directives as a moral compass for all police personnel, including the call to be a police force that benefits society and never hurts the people’s feelings. He reminded all ranks to maintain integrity, discipline, and to avoid violations, abuse of authority, and arrogant behaviour that could erode public trust. Asep underscored the importance of rapid response to public reports, early detection, prevention, good communication, and collaborative problem-solving. “We must act firmly, professionally, and proportionally against any form of security disturbance and legal violation,” he stated. He further invited all personnel to make the Nugraha Sakanti award a compass for service and a new energy to provide the best dedication to the community, nation, and state, in line with the Polda Metro Jaya motto, Jaya Dharma Sevaka, which means success in every duty of service.
