Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Precision Pioneer Patrol Team of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Directorate of Samapta arrested four men suspected of selling the controlled substance Tramadol in the Tanah Abang area of Central Jakarta.

Jakarta Metropolitan Police Director of Samapta, Commissioner Wahyu Dwi Ariwibowo, explained in a statement on Monday that the operation was carried out during a routine patrol on Sunday evening (22 February).

The patrol involved 37 combined personnel from the 3P Patrol Team, Monitoring Patrol, and female police officers, led by Inspector Dedy Suhendro and Inspector Abdul Kadzim.

“While sweeping Jalan Aipda Karel Satsuit Tubun, officers discovered suspicious transaction activity pointing to the unlicensed sale of controlled substances,” Wahyu said.

From the patrol, four individuals with the initials S, I, MA, and WS were detained along with evidence comprising 15 strips of Tramadol, one mobile phone, and two wallets believed to be linked to the transactions.

The suspects were subsequently handed over to the Tanah Abang Metropolitan Police Station for further processing.

“The presence of officers in the field serves as both a preventive measure and a law enforcement effort to maintain a conducive public order situation,” Wahyu said.

Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, urged the public not to become involved in the misuse or distribution of controlled substances without authorisation.

He also requested residents to immediately report any suspicious activities through the 24-hour Call Centre on 110.

“Our handling is carried out firmly, proportionately, and professionally. Public support is vital to breaking the chain of illicit drug distribution,” Budi stressed.
