TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police investigators arrested AFA, the administrator behind the Instagram account ._.setan, on Sunday night, August 30, 2026. The arrest was confirmed by Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Division Head Sr. Comr. Budi Hermanto.

“Indeed, the Cyber Crime Directorate of the Jakarta Metro Police arrested AFA, the owner of the Instagram account ._.setan, on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at around 23:30 WIB in the Cibodas area of Tangerang City,” Budi stated at his office in South Jakarta on Monday, August 31, 2026.

According to Budi, AFA’s arrest was unrelated to his Instagram posts regarding the civil society organization United Indonesian People’s Movement, or GRIB Jaya. Instead, he explained that AFA was apprehended for allegedly circulating instructions on constructing Molotov cocktails alongside provocative text.

“[The suspect] allegedly distributed content detailing materials and instructions to make a Molotov cocktail and detonator, paired with provocative language inciting violence against specific authorities or assets,” Budi said.

Authorities have officially designated AFA as a suspect. Police are continuing to question him as part of the ongoing investigation.

Khariq Anhar, a representative from the Indonesian Political Prisoner Union (Setapol), noted that several individuals had previously flown a drone around AFA’s residence to monitor the premises. He subsequently learned from AFA’s family that police officers had arrived at the Tangerang residence bearing an official warrant.

“When I confirmed with his parents again, it turned out that officers were indeed from the Jakarta Metro Police Cyber Division and carried a assignment letter,” Khariq said when contacted on Monday.

According to information obtained by Khariq, AFA was taken into custody over content allegedly containing incitement and calls to violence. “They said there was alleged incitement, fake news, electronic manipulation, and incitement to commit violence from that account. However, police did not specify which exact posts were cited,” Khariq said.
