The Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) implemented a number of traffic diversions due to a protest in Jakarta starting this afternoon. The police have apologised to the public affected by the traffic rerouting.

“Regarding the diversion and closure of traffic flows, we apologise to all members of the public affected by the traffic situation,” said Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, to reporters on Friday (12/6/2026).

He stated that the traffic management was carried out situationally, as security conditions on the ground necessitated the rerouting. “This had to be done situationally considering the need to secure the student protesters,” he said.

Budi noted that protests occurred at several points today. According to him, the demonstrations proceeded safely and orderly. “In general, the security operation proceeded safely, orderly, and was under control,” he stated.

He expressed appreciation to the students who held a peaceful protest today. He also commended the police officers who provided humane security. “We also hope that moments like this, in expressing opinions in public, continue to proceed peacefully. Aspirations can be conveyed properly, as can the security operations,” he concluded.
