Jakarta Plans to Build 11 Flats in 2027, Still Seeking Central Government Support

The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta plans to build 11 low-cost apartment blocks (rusun) in 2027. Head of the DKI Jakarta Public Housing and Residential Areas Agency, Kelik Indriyanto, stated that the plan has been proposed to the Ministry of Housing and Residential Areas (Kemen PKP).

"Regarding the 11 flats, the proposal process to the Ministry of PKP is currently underway," Kelik said when confirmed on Friday (26/6). He expressed hope that the construction of the 11 flats would be fully supported by the central government through the Ministry’s 3 Million Homes Programme. "It is greatly hoped that it will be fully supported through the 3 Million Homes programme as a joint portfolio between the Central and Regional Governments," he said.

The planned locations for the flat construction in North Jakarta include Muara Angke, Marunda Cluster C, Marunda Cluster A, Marunda Cluster B, Rorotan IX, Tongkol Phase III, and Semper Cakung Drain. In East Jakarta, the locations are Cakung KM 2 and Komarudin, whilst in West Jakarta they are situated in Bojong Indah and Daan Mogot KM 18. "The target occupancy for the rental flats is programmed communities and the general public in accordance with Governor Regulation 111 of 2024," he explained.

Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the construction of these flats aims to overcome settlement problems amidst limited land and high house prices in Jakarta. "In the budget meeting, I have approved for next year the construction of 11 large new flats," Pramono told reporters on Thursday (25/6). By increasing the number of decent housing units, Pramono hopes the public will have easy and transparent access to housing. He believes that providing flats will be the solution to Jakarta’s settlement problems. "Because it is impossible for people to own land in Jakarta unless they are wealthy, the landed ones. So vertical housing is the key word for this," he said.
