Jakarta on Alert! 4,500 Police Secure Easter Worship
The Metro Jaya Regional Police (Polda) have mobilised 4,500 personnel to secure the Easter worship celebrations, marking the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, observed on Friday (3 April) in the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings. “The presence of these personnel is aimed at ensuring that the Christian community can worship safely, comfortably, and reverently. The total force prepared reaches 4,500 personnel,” stated the Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner Pol Budi Hermanto, in his statement on Thursday (2 April). Budi explained that personnel will be placed at churches, points of congregation, and locations serving as centres of Christian activities during the Easter celebrations. According to him, the police presence in the field is not only to maintain security and public order but also as a form of service to the community. “We have prepared 4,500 personnel to ensure that the entire series of Easter worship runs safely and smoothly. The presence of personnel in the field is also a form of our service so that the Christian community can worship calmly and comfortably,” said Budi. He also explained that personnel are prepared to support the smooth running of worship, from sterilising locations before activities begin, managing traffic flow, to routine patrols around church areas. All these steps are taken so that the community can carry out worship more calmly and smoothly. “We want the presence of the National Police to truly be felt by the community as protectors, guardians, and servants. Therefore, the security for Easter is not only oriented towards security aspects but also towards service to the community so that worship can proceed peacefully and smoothly,” said Budi. In addition, Polda Metro Jaya has urged the public to remain alert and immediately report to officers or via the 110 service if they find anything suspicious. “With the readiness of personnel and the services provided, it is hoped that the series of 2026 Easter celebrations can proceed safely, orderly, and full of peace,” said Budi.
