Jakarta (ANTARA) - The role of a father is no longer measured solely by his ability to earn a living, but also by his presence in his children’s lives, according to the Head of the DKI Jakarta Child Protection, Empowerment, and Population Control Agency (PPAPP), Dwi Oktavia.

She stated that a father’s role is now also gauged by the quality time spent with the family, involvement in caregiving, support for his partner, and the ability to be a good role model in order to jointly build a family that serves as the foundation for Jakarta as a global city.

“That is the investment and value that is no less important for the future of children,” Dwi said during an online seminar themed “The Active Role of Men in Creating Harmonious, Equal, and Mutually Supportive Families” on Thursday.

She further reminded that family matters are no longer about who is more dominant, the father or the mother, but about how couples, husband and wife, can become a team that complements each other to create a safe, harmonious, and resilient family.

In this regard, Dwi said that the involvement of men is one of the main keys to building a safe, harmonious, and resilient family. Men are not only targets of education but also agents of change who can bring a culture of mutual respect into the family.

“We want more men to realise the extraordinary role of being a husband and a father who is present not only to earn a living, but also to be a complete presence, who can accompany all members of his family,” Dwi said.

She invited all residents of Jakarta to make the home the safest, most comfortable, and most loving place for all family members. “Through this webinar, we hope to inspire more men, fathers, and all parties to take an active role in building harmonious, equal, and mutually supportive families,” Dwi stated.
