Jakarta Not as Beautiful as Imagined, Pramono: Migrants Must Have Capabilities

Jakarta — Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung has cautioned residents planning to migrate to the capital to prepare themselves with adequate capabilities and skills.

According to Pramono, Jakarta is indeed open to anyone who wishes to come. However, he emphasised that not everyone can survive if they lack the capabilities needed in the job market.

Pramono stressed that life in Jakarta does not always proceed as smoothly as some people often imagine. He warned that competition in the capital is extremely fierce, requiring mental preparedness and adequate skills in order to survive.

“Life in Jakarta is not as it is portrayed to be smooth and trouble-free — it simply is not. You must work hard to achieve that,” he said.

Nonetheless, Pramono assured that the Jakarta Provincial Government will not conduct enforcement operations against new arrivals. Whilst Jakarta remains open to all, Pramono hoped that residents who come to Jakarta can contribute and adapt themselves to the requirements of the job market, enabling them to survive and develop amidst the competition.
