Jakarta News Roundup: From Cleft Lip Surgeries to Fatmawati MRT Station Development
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Significant events occurred in Jakarta on Wednesday (3/6), ranging from the Jakarta Provincial Government’s target of providing free cleft lip surgeries for 500 patients to PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) planning the development of the Fatmawati Station area.
- MRT Jakarta to develop Fatmawati Station
PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) plans to develop the Fatmawati Station area, similar to the multi-functional space (extended concourse) at Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI) Station. “We have already conducted a feasibility study for the Fatmawati Station area. Ideally, we will develop this area into a commercial zone, much like the extended concourse at Bundarak HI,” said the Director of Business Development at MRT Jakarta, Farchad Mahfud, during the 2026 Journalist Forum in Jakarta on Wednesday.
- North Jakarta Administration to deploy heavy machinery for waste clearance in Muara Angke
The North Jakarta Environmental Office (Sudin LH) will deploy two excavators to accelerate waste dredging along the coast of Muara Angke, Penjaringan District, on Thursday (4/6). “Officers are already working today, and 20 cubic metres of waste have been successfully transported from the location,” said the Head of the Environmental Office, Edy Mulyanto, in Jakarta on Wednesday.
- Jakarta targets cleft lip surgeries for 500 patients through 2027
The Jakarta Provincial Government aims to provide free cleft lip and palate surgeries for 500 patients by 2027 as part of an effort to bring healthcare closer to the community. “The target is that by 2027, 500 patients can be served through this surgery programme,” said the Assistant for People’s Welfare of Jakarta Province, Ali Maulana Hakim, during a speech at RSUD Tebet Jakarta on Wednesday.

The Jakarta Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) will once again host the annual “Jakarta Future Festival” (JFF) 2026 at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Central Jakarta, from 5 to 7 June 2026. The Jakarta Provincial Department for Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control (PPAPP) is providing psychosocial support services for children surviving the fire in Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. The Head of the PPAPP Department, Dwi Oktavia TLH, stated that they are providing trauma healing services to help children in RW 04 Kebon Kosong overcome anxiety following the fire disaster.
