Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Class II A Narcotics Prison continues its commitment to strengthening sustainable personality development for inmates through synergy and collaboration with various parties.

“Rehabilitation is not just about serving a prison sentence, but about how we provide knowledge, spiritual strengthening, and mental and physical health so that inmates are prepared to return to society,” said the Head of the Jakarta Narcotics Prison, Aliandra Haruka, in Jakarta on Wednesday.

This commitment was realised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Patriot Garda Indonesia regarding the implementation of personality development, Christian spiritual guidance, mental health, and physical health for inmates.

Under this cooperation, Christian spiritual guidance is conducted through Bible School and the Higher Theological Education Equality Action Programme, which provides opportunities for inmates to pursue education up to an undergraduate (S1) degree in Theology.

“In addition, the programme also includes mental counselling activities and physical health development,” said Aliandra.

Aliandra noted that 36 inmates are participating in the educational programme, consisting of 13 inmates in the S1 Theology programme and 23 inmates in the Certified Bible School.

According to him, rehabilitation must be able to provide a complete foundation for inmates. Through this cooperation, Aliandra hopes that the development programme can run sustainably.

“This cooperation is also expected to have a real impact in forming better, more independent personalities for inmates, making them ready to lead their lives after returning to the community,” he added.
