Jakarta MRT Phase 3 Project Enters Land Acquisition Phase, Targeting Operations in 2030
Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, stated that the Jakarta MRT Phase 3 East-West line project has now entered the land acquisition and route determination phase. The East-West MRT will connect Tomang in West Jakarta to Medan Satria in Bekasi. “The DKI Jakarta Government is currently continuing progress on the East-West MRT. In several segments, land acquisition, route setting, station point determination, and so on are underway,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (12/5/2026). “Hopefully, if this runs smoothly, the first segment can be enjoyed by us in 2030 for East-West,” Pramono added. Previously, PT MRT Jakarta expressed readiness to build the East-West MRT line to expand public transportation services in Jakarta. PT MRT Jakarta’s Construction Director, Weni Maulina, said the first phase of construction will be carried out in the Jakarta area with the route from Tomang to Medan Satria. The project has gone through the market sounding stage at the end of 2025 and is targeted to begin the tender phase in 2026. “The first area to be built is what we call phase 1, stage 1, within the Jakarta area, the route from Tomang to Medan Satria,” Weni said at the Journalists’ Forum at the Transport Hub, Dukuh Atas, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (27/1/2026). In addition, this line will connect to the Rorotan depot with an additional track of around 5.7 kilometres. Weni explained that this line will be built with two types of construction. Part of the line will be elevated and part underground. The elevated line will pass through the Tomang–Grogol, Cempaka Baru, Sumur Batu, Pakulonan Barat, Pulo Gadung, Penggilingan, Cakung Barat, Pulo Gebang, Ujung Menteng, to Medan Satria areas. Meanwhile, the underground line will pass through the Roxy, Petojo, Cideng, Thamrin, Kebon Sirih, Kwitang, Senen, to Galur areas.
