Jakarta MRT Operations Temporarily Disrupted Due to Power Outage
Operations at Jakarta MRT were temporarily disrupted due to a power outage in several areas of Jakarta. Several Jakarta MRT stations were affected in the afternoon. “PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) states that an operational disruption occurred at several stations on Thursday, 9 April 2026, at 17:57 WIB,” said Head of the Corporate Secretary Division of PT MRT Jakarta, Rendy Primartantyo, when contacted on Thursday (9/4/2026). Rendy stated that the electricity supply from PLN was temporarily constrained. He mentioned that facilities at Jakarta MRT stations experienced disruptions, but they have now returned to normal. “This operational disruption was caused by a supply issue from PLN’s side (CSW), resulting in some station facilities, such as lighting, elevators, escalators, and other facilities, experiencing disruptions. All elevated stations experienced a blackout condition, but this has now been successfully normalised,” he said. MRT Jakarta conveyed an apology for the disruption that occurred. MRT Jakarta has also taken several handling steps and ensured that services are now running normally. “MRT Jakarta has taken swift handling and normalisation measures and continues to coordinate with relevant parties to ensure services can return to normal. Currently, MRT field officers continue to monitor conditions and ensure services run smoothly. Further information will be provided periodically,” he stated. “We apologise for the inconvenience; the safety of MRT Jakarta passengers remains our top priority,” he added. Previously, electricity in several areas of Jakarta was out. The power outage occurred due to an ongoing disruption. PLN’s Jakarta Raya Distribution Main Unit (UID Jaya/Disjaya) confirmed a gradual outage. PLN is now carrying out normalisation efforts. “Yes, there is an ongoing disruption that is gradual, and normalisation efforts are underway,” said PLN UID Jaya/Disjaya Communication Manager, Intan Nugrahani, when contacted.
